About these terms
These terms are for Island Empire accounts, and for buying gems in the gem shop. By making an account or buying gems, you agree to them. Playing the game itself is free, and doesn't need an account.
Who can buy gems
If you're under 18 (or whatever age makes you an adult where you live), ask a parent or guardian before buying gems, and let them pay. Whoever pays must be allowed to use the card or account they pay with.
Gems
- Gems are the gem shop's own currency, for skins and accessories for your castaway. They're separate from the coins you earn in the game.
- Gems have no value outside Island Empire. They can't be turned back into money, swapped with other players, or moved to another account (refunds are covered by the refund policy).
- Prices are shown in the shop before you pay.
- Gems arrive on your account once the payment goes through, usually within a minute.
- Skins and accessories only change how your castaway looks. They don't help you in the game.
Paying
Payments are taken by Stripe, on Stripe's own checkout page, so we never see your card details. Stripe works out any sales tax, and emails your receipt, which may say "Sold through Link". Stripe's own terms apply to the payment too.
Refunds
See the refund policy. In short: gems you haven't spent can be refunded within 14 days, and a refunded or disputed payment's gems are taken back.
Your account
- Use an email address you can get to: it's how you log in, and how you set a new password if you forget it. If you're under 13, a parent or guardian should make the account, with their email.
- Keep your password to yourself. Anyone who has it can use your account.
- Pick a kind name: no rude or hurtful names, and no pretending to be someone else. We may change a name that breaks this rule.
- You can delete your account at any time, from your profile.
Fair play
The leaderboard counts the coins the game reports. Please don't cheat, or mess with the game, the site or other players' islands. If we find cheating, we may take a player off the leaderboard, or close the account if it's serious. Gems on an account closed for breaking these terms aren't refunded, unless the law says they must be.
Changes to the game
We keep making Island Empire better, so the game, the shop and its prices can change. We won't take away skins or accessories you've bought, except as the refund policy says. If we ever close the gem shop or the game for good, we'll say so on this site first, and stop selling gems before it closes.
If something goes wrong
We do our best to keep Island Empire running and your account safe, but we can't promise it will always work, or never lose anything. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll say so on the site too.
